Chamber Music Today: Sung Birds: Bird-based Recital Repertoire

  • Kalvos · 5 months ago
Lots of bird music for chamber ensembles. Don't miss Daniel Goode and his many bird pieces -- he is one of the great birdsong contemporaries since Messiaen. And there's my own "LowBirds" (flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, piano) and "HighBirds (Prime)" (two electric guitars & playback), both birdsong-based but not sounding like birdsongs. Scores available with performance recording of "LowBirds" at http://maltedmedia.com/people/bathory/biglist.html Other composers that come to mind are Hugh LeCaine, Mary Lee Roberts, Wendy Mae Chambers (those birds on tape with harpsichords), and Peter Flint.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
